We interrupt this writing challenge to share the joy of the Yo-Yo. Got to visit the National Yo-Yo Museum in Chico, CA this past weekend. This great quote, from Yo-Yo Ma was taped to the side of a display case near the cash register:
“When you learn something from people, or from a culture, you accept it as a gift, and it is your lifelong commitment to preserve it and build on it.”
The museum was fascinating and fun. Much lore and learning on the Yo-Yo front. My own story of Yo-Yo love comes from a 1970’s visit to the Uncle Gus show (WMUR-TV, channel 9 in Manchester New Hampshire!) where I won a light up yo yo for some brilliant banter or a state naming quiz.
Tonight, for the first time in many years, I tried walking the dog (no such luck) but did manage a quick trip “around the world” and tried to teach my nephew how to master the basics. Like getting the string around his finger. Thank goodness for you-tube and the zillion lessons out there from real pros! The summer school is open. Let the good times roll.
The prompt of the #30Trust challenge set for today is (basically) an assignment on which I’ll write tomorrow. But I didn’t want to miss a day of posting something!
