I’m thinking about Heart Break Hill – that part of the Boston Marathon, around mile 16 – when there is YET another incline. After the half way point. After three other hills along Route 30. This final ascent comes when the body is “hitting the wall” and a down hill toward the finish line is definitely what SHOULD be happening…Nope. There’s one more push. It’s necessary to find some resource from within that can help body and spirit face the elevation abruptly followed by a 150 foot drop in the next 1/2 mile.
Yeah Yeah, life has it’s ups and downs. And pithy cliches are true for a reason. What goes up must come down. Blah blah.
So when I’m facing another “growth experience” and I’m really not wanting to have to look for, let alone pull out the old resources deeply packed away, it’s hard to to wax poetic. Life is hard. Hitting the wall is hard. Finding a little more strength is hard. So, we do what needs to be done, anyhow.
